How I do our “Basic Exterior” Detail package, and who it applies to.

If your wondering how we do our “Basic Exterior” car detail, look no further. In a 2 minute Instagram short and this detailed blog post, I explain the entire process to our basic exterior detail, stating the chemicals, process, the difference it is from our “Premium Exterior” Detail, and how I ensure a clean and protected vehicle that will satisfy your eyes.

Whats the difference of the Basic Exterior Detail Vs The Premium Exterior Detail?

  1. Starting off with the paints wash process, the basic includes a 1 step foam bath and wash, while the premium includes a 3 step foam bath and wash. In the basic, we offer a 1 step, which is a basic contact wash with a chenille wash mitt to ensure no scratching. In the premium, the first step is a pre wash, this lifts up debris for heavy soiled cars, which is rinsed off before going into step 2, which is the contact wash. After this, the final step is to foam up the car for the 3rd time and go into the decontamination stage, which brings me to the next difference between the premium and basic.

  2. The next difference is our full clay mitt decontamination stage. In the basic, this step is skipped, as the basic is for more of a maintenance/light wash. In the premium exterior, a clay mitt decontamination is done to remove embedded contaminants in the paint. Usually, whenever a car is washed and dryed, there is still a rough texture to the paint. This is the contaminants that are embedded, leaving an unsmooth texture, reducing the ceramic or wax sealants protection and shine.

  3. Another difference is iron fallout removal stage, and bug/tar removal. In a premium, these two steps are done, while they are skipped in the basic. Iron is another form of contaminant that is shown as speckled orange dots, botching the look on white and light colored cars. Bug and tar removal are self explanitory, we use a special chemical to remove the stuck bugs and tar.

  4. The last 2 differences between these packages are upgraded protection, and black trim restoration. In the premium exterior, black trim restoration is done to restore faded plastics on the exterior, bringing them a dark, matte finish. In a basic exterior detail, a up to 3 month wax based sealant is applied, creating a deeper gloss and a hydrophobic layer on the paint. For the premium, the duration of the protection from the ceramic based sealant, is brought up to 9 months, creating a slicker surface, aswell as gloss + hydrophobicity.

What is done during the Basic Exterior detail process, and what do we use?

  1. First, we detail the wheel barrel, lug nuts, wheel face, and tire. The wheels are the dirtiest part, so making sure a thorough job is done is required. Adams wheel and tire cleaner diluted 4:1 in an IK foam sprayer with detailing brushes does the job.

  2. Next, we do the 1 step foam bath and contact wash. This is done with chenille and microfiber mitts, ensuring no scratches. A foam cannon and wash bucket are used to boost the cleaniness of the car. Koch Chemies GSF is used as car soap, one of the top rated ph nuetral car soaps in the detailing industry.

  3. After rinsing the car, we use a protector wax from koch chemie, and apply a wax that lasts up to 3 months. This boosts shine and adds hydrophobic properties to the car.

  4. After applying and rinsing again, a 1200 gsm drying towel is used to dry the car.

  5. The final step in this detail is to add tire shine, arguably the best silicone based tire dressing, to make sure none of it is slinging off the tires onto the paint. This tire shine lasts 1-3 months in ideal conditions.

This is everything thats done in the Basic Exterior detail. I made a detailed explanation with a video of me doing this exact wash process on a 2018 honda accord sport 2.0, with a voice over. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/DTConKYE-fB/
